Pink Pearl Canada: Support young women facing cancer

Pink Pearl Canada is a community-oriented charitable organization that provides support, facilitates connections and empowers self-identifying young women who are courageously overcoming the social and emotional challenges of being diagnosed with cancer across Canada. When our Founder, Elise Gasbarrino, heard the words ‘you have cancer’, she noticed a gap in programs that specifically support young women facing cancer. Elements were missing from her experience—a way to connect with women her age facing the same issues, and a means for them to conquer their issues together. From her experience, Pink Pearl was created to provide free support programs for self-identifying young women facing cancer across Canada.

This Giving Tuesday, donate to Pink Pearl Canada to help them raise $10,000 to fund their 2024 Overnight Wellness Retreat. Their retreats provide a safe and supportive environment to support young women through their cancer diagnosis. Through meaningful peer-led conversations, movement and expert discussions they’re designed for participants to feel supported while facing cancer.

Through Jack Talks, Jack Chapters, and Jack Summits, young leaders identify and dismantle barriers to positivte mental health in their communities. And through ambitious innovations in youth mental health like the Be There Certificate, they give people the resources they need to educate themselves to create a world where we all feel supported.

Jack.org is working towards a Canada where all young people understand how to take care of their own mental health and look out for each other.

NANKIND: Support families in need

Nankind is a charitable organization that has been providing free childcare and support programs to families affected by cancer since 2009. Founded by a two-time cancer survivor and mother, Audrey Guth, who created the organization after meeting another mother in a cancer care waiting room with her daughter and realized the burden that many parents with cancer face, juggling being a parent and patient. Through their community of volunteers, Nankind gives children the coping skills to build lifelong emotional resilience throughout their parent’s cancer journey, from diagnosis through bereavement. From free in-home childcare support, virtual homework and activity programs, and peer and mom support groups, Nankind provides a sense of normalcy and vital support to parents with cancer and their children. This Giving Tuesday, their goal is to provide 2,500 holiday meals to families affected by cancer. Nankind’s Meal Support Program delivers nutritious prepared meals during the most challenging time of a parent’s cancer journey, so they don’t have to worry about their family’s nutrition and can focus on their rest and recovery.

Campfire Circle: Support kids with cancer and serious illnesses

Campfire Circle is a privately funded charity that provides laughter, fun and good times to families affected by childhood cancer or serious illnesses through fun events, camp and even at the hospital. We first were introduced to Campfire Circle at SickKids when Benjamin was first diagnosed. They came to our hospital room with crafts, toys and just spent time with Benjamin. It was amazing to see him laugh during the worst days of our lives. Since then we as a family have attended camp and had the chance to connect with other families going through the same journey, as well as fun events all over the GTA!
