#DishingIt: Elaia Estiatorio

This is #DishingIt – where we give you the inside scoop on what’s new and downright finger lickin’ good in on the culinary scene. As tricky as it can be to achieve, we like to believe that maintaining a healthy lifestyle and diet is all about balance. And though we like to top you up with tips and tricks that’ll help you achieve optimal wellness, we love sharing about one of our favourite hobbies: eating all the things. If you like trying different cuisines and discovering the next best hole in the wall as well as gourmet meal, than let’s get to talkin’. Oh, and make sure to dish your dining suggestions right back to us in the comments.

While spending the summer in The Hamptons, we had the pleasure of enjoying dinner at Elaia Estiatorio, a Greek restaurant located in Bridgehamptons. This chic restaurant brings the true, authentic Greek cuisine to The Hamptons, and we loved every minute of our experience here.

The Vibe:

The moment you stroll up to Elaia Estiatorio you feel like you’ve moved out of your place in The Hamptons, and have been swept away to your favourite Greek island in the middle of the Mediterranean Sea. From its light hardwood floors, and white-washed walls, to its seaglass artifacts and woven textures all around, the vibe here is elegantly breezy. Owners, and husband and wife duo, Sofia Crokos and Chris Boudouris have taken their love of all things Greek to create a really magical restaurant miles away from their Greek roots. Sofia combined her love of food and flowers to design a place where you feel most at home. As the founder of Sofia Crokos Events & Lifestyle, she curates and produces soulful, luxury events that speak to immersing in unforgettable moments tableside, just as she does at the restaurant. And, with Chris’ roots stemming from Greece, he envelopes his heritage and expertise in the wine industry to bring in the spirit of Greece in every sip.

The Service:

The service was onpoint. The general manager, Arielle, swooped through the restaurant throughout the night to welcome all guests dining at Elaia, and ensured we had anything and everything we needed for our evening. The wait staff was attentive and provided us with an intricate knowledge of their favourite dishes and the restaurant to ensure we felt most at home.

The Food:

A culinary journey to the Greek Isles with small plates to share with friends and family, here the chefs focus on creating seasonal menus that speak to the delectable locally sourced produce and seafood. Intertwining the highest quality ingredients with that of traditional homestyle cooking, the food at Elaia is something out of a storybook. While here, we tried our hands at a few different small plates and fell in love with each one as the dinner progressed.

From the Alifes (spreads) platter to the Oktapodi Skaras the flavours of each dish all blended beautifully together. We enjoyed the Kavourokeftedes (herbed crab cakes) with its bed of light vegetables to bring in a variety of textural elements while enjoying each bite. We indulged in the Elaia Chips, Patates Lemonate (roasted lemon potatoes), and Gigantes (giant beans baked in a light tomato sauce) — all must haves in our books! And we finished off our meal with the Kotopoulo Souvlaki (chicken souvlaki) that was the best we’ve ever had.

The food is at the heart of the restaurant, what we loved most about our experience was hearing the restaurant fill up with love and small plates all around us.

The Drinks:

The wine and cocktails speak for themselves. With a beautifully crafted bar, and hand-selected wines, each drink is created with love. We tasted the Apollo; a chile Infused Sombra Mezcal, passionfruit, and rosemary drink and were taken aback with the subtle smoked flavours and sweetness of passionfruit that soothed our souls. Enjoying a glass of the Greek Wine Cellar full-bodied red, we loved all of the wines Chris hand selects for the restaurant.

The Verdict:

We’re oceanside for another few weeks and are already making plans to head back to Elaia Estiatorio! If you’re ever in the area, this is one restaurant you’ll definitely want to check out.
