An Interview with Annie Murphy on what #ChangeIsBeautiful means to her

We agree wholeheartedly with Dove that every freckle, wrinkle, spot and scar are souvenirs that should be honoured and celebrated. And just as our skin changes, so to has Dove. They’re continually celebrating our individual skin journeys with nourishing, indulgent micromoisture technology products that care for our skin and the beautiful journeys it embraces.

Recently we sat down Canadian Actress, Annie Murphy, the face of Dove’s #ChangeIsBeautiful campaign, to learn about how to embrace the skin you’re in. Here’s what she had to say.

You are the new face of the Dove #ChangeIsBeautiful campaign, what does #ChangeisBeautiful mean to you?

I think change is MANY things. It can be beautiful, but it can also be scary and overwhelming and unwanted.  I think in the context of this campaign, though, “change is beautiful” is encouraging people to embrace the changes in their skin and their bodies. Growing older and changing is a wonderful thing, because it means we’re still alive!

Change is a constant, as we know. What changes have impacted your skin recently?

Winter always hits me hard – I’m very grateful the warmer weather is on the way because the cold weather tends to turn me into a dry, dusty, desert woman.

We all know and love you as Alexis on Schitts Creek, a style icon if we do say so! How would you describe your personal style?

Not Alexis. Comfort is reaaaaal key for me, so that means the slouchier and more oversized, the better.

Do you have a style icon?

I….do not. But I sometimes steal styling ideas from pretty girls on the internet if that counts?

Favourite Canadian Designer?

After googling “top ten Canadian designers” and doing a quick scroll through, I’d say Beaufille.

What upcoming projects are you most excited about?

I have two animated projects coming out this summer, which I’m super stoked about. In one of them (Ruby Gillman: Teenage Kraken), I play an evil mermaid, and in the other (Praise Petey), I play a woman who inherits her father’s cult after he dies. A real spectrum there.

We are heading into the summer months here in Canada, where are some of your favourite Canadian cities to travel to?

St. John’s, Montreal, annnnd also Ottawa because a lot of my loves live there.
