Meet Ang, the Owner of Ang Hill

Could you tell us a bit about yourself?
I’m Ang and I’m the owner of Ang Hill sustainable clothing brand. When I’m not designing clothes, you can find me hanging out with friends and family and spending time with my 3 year old son, Dax and my husband Rob. I also work part-time as a research respiratory therapist.
Share the story behind your brand.
Founded in 2018 by Edmontonian, Ang Johnson (formerly Ang Hillaby), Ang Hill is an ethical women’s clothing brand inspired by the power of femininity and the pursuit of passion. Ever since she was a little girl, it was Ang’s dream to become a fashion designer. With this dream and a lot of determination, she made it happen.
She realised that she would always reach for the same staple pieces in her closet – ones that were soft and cosy, versatile, high quality, and comfortable. So she thought why not create an entire collection of pieces like this.
By creating a collection of pieces that are easy to style without compromising comfort + style, she takes the guesswork out of fashion. Her ultimate vision is to create an entire capsule wardrobe of the cosiest pieces for you that can easily be mixed and matched to create gorgeous outfits.
What inspires you?

I’m inspired by how fabrics feel. It is super important that all of my designs feel as soft and cozy as they look. I love taking a simple design and elevating it by creating flattering details that elevate a garment.
Where’s your favourite summer vacation spot?
Before kids, we used to travel the world and our favourite spot so far is Japan. Now that we have a toddler, we spend most of our time with family and love going to spend time at our family’s vacation property that is near Sylvan lake, Alberta.
What can we expect from your brand in 2024?

We are so excited to launch two new jackets later this year. You can expect them to be timeless capsule wardrobe essentials that will easily integrate into your wardrobe and are super versatile. I’m also working on designing a mini collection of graphic tees.
