With see now, wear now changing the game and celebrities hosting pop ups around the city, NYFW had more hot topics then just what walked the runway.
See Now, Wear Now
Key players are turning the traditional spring/fall fashion calendar on its head with the emergence of see now, wear now. Tom Ford, Thakoon & Tommy Hilfiger all showed product that the customer could get their hands on immediately for purchase. Fashion shows used to be closed off events to the public, until the age of social media. Customers no longer want to wait the 6 months it takes to ship their favourite runway styles, they want it now. This new format hopes to delivery on this idea.
Pop Ups
Vogue asks, is the pop up shop the new runway show? With celebrities like Kendall & Kylie and Rihanna taking the lead on this new concept, we are seeing pop ups literally “pop up” around the city! In the spirit of the see now, wear now movement some brands are opting out of the traditional catwalk and going direct to the customer with tailored shops housing product available for immediate purchase.
The Shows
The reason we are all here, the catwalk. Some of our highlights included:
Michael Kors brought his jetsetter girl to a happy place with high waisted bikinis and cross body bags done in bright floral prints and ready to wear in big ruffles.
The Marchesa girl was floating on a cloud. A cloud of romance. Gowns were done in soft colors using iridescent fabrics that created beautiful movement.
Our favourite Spice Girl, Victoria Beckham, continues to prove herself on the fashion stage. The Beckham girl was much more relaxed then in the past walking down the runway in voluminous shapes and flat knee high boots.
Kate Spade brought us to the top of the Nomad Hotel a quintessential NYC venue, but showed us a Moroccan inspired line. Bohemian feeling silhouettes was a departure for the typically buttoned up brand but the colors & bold prints remained.
Kayne …
That is all.
