This year, we’ve partnered up with Destination TO to bring their holiday activation to life. We are running our pop-up, Shop the Block, at Stackt Market, in the heart of Toronto. “We’re so excited to be popping up this holiday season in our Toronto! We’ve curated a diverse assortment of brands from different neighbourhoods of Toronto. From home decor to holiday gifts to the newest in fashion, beauty, and jewelry we have something for the locals and tourists alike!” says Editor-in-Chief of STYLE Canada, Elise Gasbarrino.
Shop the Block will feature goods from local Toronto businesses. Our Shop the Block: Behind the Brands series will take a deeper look at the founders of our participating vendors and their stories. This article features Olaeda with

SC: Tell us a bit about yourself!
TM: Hi, I’m Talia, a very busy mom of two! I studied microbiology/medical science and hold a current certification as an infection control practitioner. With over two decades in healthcare I was always a #parttimesidehustler with my jewelry biz. I’m a lover of fashion and the arts, which has ultimately led me to my full time role as the CEO and lead designer of Olaeda.

SC: Tell us the story behind your brand!
TM: I started my jewelry business many moons ago (under a different brand name), and originally in the bridal space. I loved working with my clients to create custom and one of a kind pieces for their special day. As trends evolved, so did my business. I started experimenting and branching out into other types of jewelry making. Today we offer a curated and hand made product line of solid gold and demi-fine jewelry. We have expanded our bridal collection as well and still create bespoke pieces for our clients.

TM: Usually travel has a big role with inspiration, but the world landscape has prevented this for the better part of the pandemic. It’s hard to describe what exactly inspires me; it’s really so many things. It could be someone walking on the street or a painting, textures, a certain expression or even my kids.

SC: What does 2022 hold for you?
TM: This year has been quite interesting to say the least. We did a full rebrand, a website overhaul and opened our very first flagship studio in Toronto (deep breaths). I’m so proud of what the brand has achieved. We have two more launches planned for this year and some incredibly exciting things to share for 2023. Follow us on IG to stay in the loop.

SC: What is your favourite item to gift this holiday season?
TM: My favorite item to gift would be our
European Hoops. They are a simple and classic everyday hoop. And, a best seller! Every girl needs the perfect pair of hoops; they just elevate any outfit!
