This year, we’ve partnered up with Destination TO to bring their holiday activation to life. We are running our pop-up, Shop the Block, at Stackt Market, in the heart of Toronto. “We’re so excited to be popping up this holiday season in our Toronto! We’ve curated a diverse assortment of brands from different neighbourhoods of Toronto. From home decor to holiday gifts to the newest in fashion, beauty, and jewelry we have something for the locals and tourists alike!” says Editor-in-Chief of STYLE Canada, Elise Gasbarrino.
Shop the Block will feature goods from local Toronto businesses. Our Shop the Block: Behind the Brands series will take a deeper look at the founders of our participating vendors and their stories. This article features Joyous Health with

SC: Tell us a bit about yourself!
SC: Tell us the story behind your brand!
JM: Joyous Health started out as a natural health blog nearly 15 years ago that I wrote from my pint-size kitchen in my teeny tiny condo in Toronto. On my blog, I shared recipes, healthy living tips and clean beauty (which I still do to this day!). I started blogging as a way to share my own story of healing after suffering from hormonal imbalance so that I could help others transform their body by taking better care of themselves. Joyous Health has grown into a healthy lifestyle brand that I am so proud of but our mission remains the same as day one, to inspire and educate others to live a joyous healthy life. As a holistic nutritionist, I knew that chemicals used on your body get absorbed INTO your body, even faster than ingesting them. So years ago, I started making my own DIY beauty products because I wanted clean products that work. We launched our first official natural beauty products in 2013 with our bestselling body butter. It’s the only thing I’ve ever used on my daughter and the only product I use to moisturize my skin in 10 years! We expanded the line to include hair care, skincare and herbal teas — all clean, sustainable and safe for the planet too.
SC: What inspires you?
JM: I get my biggest inspiration just from being in nature. Whether that’s hiking while on vacation or going for a nature stroll through High Park with my family. Nature inspires the recipes I create and all our clean beauty products as they are made with ingredients that come from mama earth.
SC: What does 2022 hold for you? I think you mean 2023?
JM: We are very excited about 2023 because after much careful consideration, we are relaunching our clean beauty products under a new brand name. They’ve lived as Joyous Health for 10 years and deserve their own spotlight, so that’s a really big project we are bringing to life in 2023!
SC: What is your favourite item to gift this holiday season?
JM: Definitely food. I think time is the greatest gift you can give someone so spending my time baking cookies or a cake for someone brings joy and good healthy vibes to others!
