Tell us a bit about yourself.
I am Adeola Obaseki, the CEO and Founder of Mohala Grey.
Fashion has always been my passion, driving me to create something uniquely connected to people worldwide, transcending race, culture, and social differences. While I have had a longstanding presence in the fashion industry as a passion, I chose to turn my passion into a full-time endeavour. Drawing from my background in relationships and project management, I aim not only to showcase my beautiful designs but also an unparalleled customer experience for our buyers which is also a key ingredient in growing a successful business.

What inspires you?
What inspires me? It’s the desire to create something truly unique. You know that feeling when you walk into a room and everyone turns to say, “Who’s that girl? Look at that outfit! Where is it from?” That’s the vibe I aim for with Mohala Grey. Additionally, creating a community within the fashion industry is also a source of inspiration for me.
Tell us the story behind your brand/ art.
To me, the brand name Mohala carries a deep meaning—it signifies “to Bloom.” This resonates with my belief in growth and transformation. The addition of Grey symbolises the unity of racial differences, where black and white merge into a beautiful spectrum. This fusion encapsulates the essence of Mohala Grey: a brand that celebrates diversity and inclusivity. The inspiration behind our brand name is simple yet powerful: “no matter what you believe in, your skin colour, or social background, wearing Mohala Grey means you’re blooming into your true self.” It’s about empowerment and self-expression.
At Mohala Grey, we are not just a fashion brand; we are storytellers. Our prints are more than designs; they are narratives waiting to be worn. Each piece is a wearable masterpiece, a walking canvas that tells a unique story and reflects a global representation.
Mohala Grey is more than a black-owned fashion brand; it’s a celebration of diversity in every form—tribes, skin tones, and societal or physical differences. It’s a canvas where everyone’s story is honoured and celebrated.
What’s one piece of advice you would give someone starting out in your field?
Do not entertain fear, just start. We are all unique in our own way, and so is what inspires us. It might take some time to get to where you are aiming, but keep at it. Do your research, believe in yourself, and ignore naysayers
What do you love most about FAT?
I’m personally thrilled by the fusion of fashion and art, it’s truly mind-blowing! FAT creates a platform for creatives like me to showcase ourselves, and I must say, the organisers are incredibly welcoming. I believe they’ve established a platform that will endure beyond their time, leaving a fantastic legacy for future generations. Personally, I’m excited about the opportunities the FAT platform will bring to my brand, and I can’t wait to connect with the vibrant crowd at FAT.
What does 2024 hold for you?
2024 has been a great year! !
We are nearing our one-year milestone and have been blessed with numerous unexpected opportunities. Our debut collection, The Kanaka Collection, has travelled wider than we anticipated. We are also bursting with excitement about our upcoming drop—I’ll drop a hint here about the theme; it’s all about being wild and free. To all our MG Baddies, old and new, 2024 promises to be FASHIONMAZING!!
