SC: Tell us a bit about yourself!

AT: In college, I am currently pursuing a dual degree in Biology and Business because my ultimate goal is to develop and start a business with a type of fabric that’s biodegradable and sustainable. With the help of some experts in the organic skincare and clothing line industry, I decided to start my company that places an emphasis on sustainable and ethical practices. I now have my own skin care line and sustainable fashion line and the goal in mind with my company is to also spread awareness and to encourage more people to adopt sustainable practices like slow fashion.

SC: What inspires you?

AT: Where I find day-to-day inspiration is in the people around me. No matter where I go, I always seem to be surrounded by amazing and driven people – especially women. I recently attended NAWBO women business Organization, a conference that empowered women business owners. There, I had the opportunity of attending different breakout sessions and listening to two keynote speakers (Molly Bloom and Magie Cook). They had faced so much adversity yet persevered through with such resilience and creativity, you cannot help but be moved and inspired to apply the same mindset to your own life!

SC: Tell us the story behind your brand/art

AT: Organic Code was established with two goals in mind: to celebrate femininity through fashion and lifestyle and to increase environmental responsibility through science and technology. As a result of these two core objectives, we have now released an organic skincare collection as well as a sustainable clothing collection to provide accessible but eco-friendly products. However, what I think is more important than just selling products is creating awareness of sustainability through my brand itself so that more people can begin to integrate more eco-friendly actions in their daily lives, no matter how small it might seem.

SC: What do you love most about FAT?

AT: I heard about FAT online. FAT has great Reputation in the fashion and art industries, Representing and promoting Canadian artists and Brands.

SC: What does 2023 hold for you?

AT: I am heading into 2023 with the 71st Miss Universe Competition at the forefront of my mind! It will be held in New Orleans which I am extremely excited about as I have never been! But, I have heard that it is a city rich with culture and amazing cuisine. Other than that, I will also be returning to university shortly after to complete my degree and of course, continue what I have been doing with my brand. In the near future, I will continue participating in annual major events such as New York Fashion Week and FAT. My goal is to spread more visibility of our brand and gain more recognition for our mission. Additionally, I hope to partner with nonprofit organizations such as ThredUP and Dress for Success by donating clothes to them. This way, I can help spread awareness of sustainable lifestyle while helping those who needed more help!
