This is #DishingIt – where we give you the inside scoop on what’s new and downright finger lickin’ good on the culinary scene. As tricky as it can be to achieve, we like to believe that maintaining a healthy lifestyle and diet is all about balance. And though we like to top you up with tips and tricks that’ll help you achieve optimal wellness, we love sharing about one of our favourite hobbies: eating all the things. If you like trying different cuisines and discovering the next best hole in the wall as well as gourmet meal, then let’s get to talkin’. 

While on a family vacation to The Bahamas, we had an incredible dinner at Marcus at Baha Mar Fish + Chop House, and loved every moment of it. Read all about our experience below.

The Vibe

The Bahamian sun sets along the beach as we take our seats for dinner at Marcus at Baha Mar Fish + Chop House. While the curated selection of artwork inspires us, the colorful and serene vibe of the restaurant pays homage to the warm culture and traditions of The Bahamas, and intertwines the brilliance of Marcus himself. The vibe is an artistic expression, it’s a breezy way of living. It’s elevated comfort food paired with comfortable dining spaces to enjoy an incredible meal with your fav people.

The Service

We’ve been to a lot of restaurants worldwide, and have always experienced the best service, but this was next level. The team at Marcus at Baha Mar Fish + Chop House catered to our every need. Our servers, Rollington and Menalic, shared their favourite dishes while chatting with us about hidden gems throughout the islands, to make us really feel at home. They even brought our daughter a plate of oranges as she had finished her pasta and needed something to ‘cleanse her 1-year old pallet’! They took us under their wings and invited us to experience the best of the best at the restaurant, and we’re so incredibly grateful to them.

The Food

We’ve been following Chef Marcus Samuelsson’s career for years, and we believe this restaurant is the perfect combination to the bold flavours and vibrant colours Chef Marcus uses to dream up innovative dishes. The menu is an invitation to savour the freshest locally-caught seafood, premium dry-aged steaks and hydroponic vegetables sourced across the island. It’s an infusion of greatness in every dish.

We began with Marcus’ (famous) Cornbread and Crispy Brussels Sprouts—both A+++ in our books. For our mains, we landed on the Bahamian Lobster and Bone-In Tomahawk with the crispy potatoes, street corn and seared broccolini. And WOW! The Tomahawk was falling off the bone kind of perfection, the lobster was a journey all on its own, and the sides were a delightful explosion of flavours. From sweet to savory each dish was on point. And to end the meal, we just had to try the Sundae AF—it’s a MUST for dessert! It’s a fun way to complete an incredible meal and is perfect for sharing, celebrating and just generally having fun while dining with your besties.

The Drinks

Pair your cocktail with a glass of Caymus or add a crisp white to the mix, and every sip feels like a VIP pass to paradise—plus, with a cocktail and wine list this stacked, your taste buds are in for an unforgettable adventure!

We’re already planning our next family vacation to The Bahamas and will be booking a reservation here, and you should too!
