Meet Canadian Designer Sajna, Founder of Couth Studios
Tell us a bit about yourself.
My name is Sajna, and I’m an engineer-turned-fashion founder. Before launching Couth Studios, I worked in construction, finance, AI and retail, helping companies scale new initiatives and implement emerging technologies. This ultimately shaped my approach to building a brand that’s unconventional yet innovative. Couth Studios started with a simple yet bold idea: What if AI could help design garments and consumers had the power to choose what gets made?
What inspires you?
I’m inspired by the intersection of fashion and technology—how innovation can create not just beautiful pieces but also a more sustainable industry. Seeing the power of AI in other industries made me realize that fashion was overdue for change. At Couth Studios, we let our community take part in that shift, using AI to generate designs and giving our audience the final say in what gets produced. It’s a blend of cutting-edge tech and timeless style, and that’s what excites me.
Tell us the story behind your brand/art.
I’ve always loved fashion, but I struggled with how disconnected the industry felt—brands relying on outdated methods to predict trends, which often led to overproduction, waste, and styles that don’t always resonate with consumers. It was ironic to me how trends move fast, yet the process behind trend forecasting and garment production—driven by guesswork rather than real-time consumer input—has remained largely unchanged for decades.
Leveraging my engineering background, I created Couth Studios, a brand where AI meets fashion and every piece we create is sustainably made and driven by our community. We wanted to create something different—where tech fuels our designs, and customers get a say in what comes to life, ensuring that what we produce is truly wanted. We’re not just making clothes; we’re redefining how fashion is created.
What’s one piece of advice you would give someone starting out in your field?
Start before you feel ready. Whether it’s launching your first collection, testing an idea, or putting yourself out there, there’s never a perfect time. The best way to learn is by doing. Surround yourself with people who believe in your vision. The fashion industry is changing, and there’s room for those willing to challenge the status quo.
What does 2025 hold for you?
2025 is all about expansion. We’re dropping our newest collection soon, growing our community, and proving that fashion can be both innovative and timeless. If the stars align, we’re also hoping to host a pop-up this year in Toronto so our customers can feel and try on our clothes in person.
