Could you tell us a bit about yourself?
Everton here, founder, co-owner and designer of Haus By Everton. We are located in Toronto, Ontario. I have been in fashion apparel over the last 25 plus years as an agent, distributor, consultant, retailer, etc. Some of the notable brands I have pineer in NA and Europe such as Bensherman – UK, Gsus – Neitherlands, Gola – UK, Evisu – Japan, Edwin Jeans – Japan, GoFranck- Neitherlands, Artphere – Japan, just to name a few. The best part of my job is traveling the globe meeting people and the inspiration behind in what they do.
Share the story behind your brand.
The inspiration came from my girlfriend wanted me to have slippers for the house. All this was during the pandemic. I had shopped around the city for slippers from the Dollar store, Nordstroms, Browns, HR, HR Sak’s and even purchased two pairs from Japan. There was nothing out there that fit my style.
I needed a slipper, with arch support, a wide toe box, a soft footbed, and leather, it had to be sustainable, etc. Next, I had to find a reputable factory, I looked at 6 possible countries for production; Mexico, Brazil, Japan, China, Italy, Canada and Portugal. I finally chose Portugal due to its strong recommendation from a friend. Even though Portugal came with strong recommendations, I still had to convince the factory to produce my brand. It wasn’t until I met with the owner in Portugal that I shared my ideas, my price points and the market segment I would be targeting.
What inspires you?
Good question. Travelling around Canada and the world where I can immerse myself in the culture.
