This winter, our team visited Ancaster Mill, a beautiful restaurant in the heart of Ancaster, and are still raving about the incredible Sunday Supper they had! Learn more about their dinner below.
The Vibe
The moment you arrive at Ancaster Mill you, like us, will likely be swept away by the stunning waterfall backdrop delicious scents and elegance of the space. From the floor-to-ceiling windows to the rugged stone walls and modern design, the space invites you to soak in the beauty of the seasons while indulging in the finer things–savouring incredible farm-to-table flavours with every dish. The restaurant is rooted in history; the flour mill journeyed through many transformations throughout the years, flowing into a restaurant lovingly restored before its grand opening in 1979. Ever since, the restaurant is a true destination where time slows, the air feels fresher, and every moment feels undeniably alive.
The Service
At Ancaster Mill, the service is warm and welcoming, making you feel right at home. The team is attentive but never overbearing, offering their favourite recommendations and ensuring every need is met without rush. It’s relaxed, effortless, and just the right balance of friendly and professional.
The Food
Our meal was perfect–and that’s saying a lot from someone who doesn’t believe in anything being too perfect!–but their farm-to-table, seasonal menu was simply the best. We were thankful to dine here during Sunday Supper, and were overwhelmed with the flavour profiles, aromas and accompaniments with every dish.
Their ever evolving Sunday Supper menu invites you to journey through an elevated 3-course family-style dinner based on the seasons. Our meal consisted of a family style salad with warm bread, mains ranging from the best Prime Rib with buttermilk fried onions and bone marrow jus to an explosion of flavours with their roasted cauliflower main for vegans. Our entrees are paired with crunchy smashed fingerling potatoes, local roasted brussel sprouts and maple glazed carrots. And to end the evening on a high note, we indulged in a piece of their milk and cookies pie, that was off the charts incredible. While overlooking the mesmerizing waterfall, we were certainly in a state of bliss after dining at Ancaster Mill.
The Drinks
The drinks here are just as thoughtfully crafted as the food. Whether you’re sipping on a hand-mixed mocktail, creative cocktail or indulging in a glass of carefully selected wine, there’s a little something for every palate. The wine list is a treasure trove, featuring local gems and classic favorites. And the cocktails? Bold, inventive, and perfectly balanced. Whether you’re toasting with friends or relaxing with a quiet drink, each sip enhances the experience, making the moment feel that much more special.
The Verdict
We’d love to spend every Sunday Supper here, and know you’ll likely do the same!
