Maria Mavridis is the Founder of Anchor Niagara, the General Manager of Corks and Firehall Flame, a mother, and is an anchor in her community.
Founding Anchor Niagara, a not-for-profit that raises funds and awareness for community charities, foundations, and not-for-profits in Niagara, she sees the value in helping those who need it most. Over the years, Maria has hosted multplie events, successfully raising over $140,000 for multiple charities across Niagara. She partners with local companies who support her in her vision of making Niagara a true destination of community support. In the past five years, Maria has volunteered more than 5,000 hours and hosted over 20 events.
Maria’s parents taught her to give back to the community where she lives, in any way she can. Maria grew up watching her mother put together events that raised awareness and funds for the community. Prior to her passing after a 10-year battle with breast cancer, Maria made a promise to her mother to continue this work in her memory.
In 2021, Maria won the Greater Niagara Chamber of Commerce Women in Niagara Award for Community Impact, and continues to inspire her community to support local charities. She is also a Mentor on the Niagara-on-the-Lake Lord Mayor’s Youth Advisory Committee, she is filled with pride when the youth learn and grow with its guidance. For her, mentorship plays a big role in the planning and execution of a successful fundraiser.
Maria is changing the way we provide support for charities across Niagara.
