Just over two hours away from Colombo, along Sri Lanka’s scenic southern coast, lies a hidden luxury hideaway that perfectly balances relaxed beach vibes with refined hospitality: Anantara Peace Haven Tangalle Resort. As soon as you turn in off the main road and enter the resort you feel you are in a place where time slows, and style is always front and center. You are surrounded by tropical plants and animals. We spotted many peacocks, monkeys and so many beautiful tropical flowers.

There’s a sense of peace and openness everywhere wide skies, expansive lawns, and the rhythmic soundtrack of waves below. Unlike busier beach towns, Tangalle feels untouched and spacious.
As part of the globally recognized Anantara brand, the property carries that signature blend of refined luxury and cultural immersion. It’s polished but never pretentious. Service is warm and intuitive, architecture is contemporary with subtle Sri Lankan influence, and the entire resort feels designed for both relaxation and quiet indulgence.
It’s not a scene-driven beach club energy. It’s elevated, tranquil, and effortlessly beautiful.

We stayed in a Deluxe Ocean View Room, and waking up to uninterrupted views of the Indian Ocean was easily the highlight.
The room is spacious, with warm wood accents, soft neutral tones, and floor-to-ceiling glass doors that open onto a private balcony. The design is modern and tropical, while incorporating some traditional Sri Lankan elements.
The bathroom featured, with a soaker tub, separate rain shower, and generous vanity space the kind of layout that makes getting ready for dinner feel like part of the vacation ritual.
It’s comfortable, refined, and intentionally calming exactly what you want in a coastal escape.
