More than 600 guests attended to the first official Startup Fashion Week in Montreal, on June 26th. The 3-day sold out events provided a platform for emerging designers to get more visibility through networking events, conferences and a runway show.
We were so pleased to have a front row seat to all the action. From the networking at the opening party to leading the fashion business conference and finally seeing all the talent take over the runway. Jodi Goodfellow and her team once again put on seamless event! In conversation with Jodi, it was evident how passionate she felt about supporting Canadian designers, “People shouldn’t underestimate the talent or potential of Canadian fashion startups because we have proven they are able to succeed.”
DAY 1 – SFW started at the Opening Party on Wednesday June 20 at SANTOS in Old Montreal. 250 guests from the Canadian fashion industry were there to celebrate local & young talents.

DAY 2 – Elise Gasbarrino, founder of STYLE.CA (yep that’s us!) hosted the Business of Fashion Conference sponsored by Canada Post. President of Vince Camuto Canada, Sonia Zarbatany,, was the spotlight of the day. She delivered a highly inspiring presentation for fashion entrepreneurs on how to develop a collection and distribute across Canada. The day ended on a good note with an exclusive networking event on the rooftop terrace at the ALT Hotel.
Designers took a lot out of the day. Fanny Capuano, the designer behind F.Capuano said, “I learned a lot about myself and the industry throughout the experience as a designer participating in SFW. At the conference I realized how to adjust my goals to build a stronger brand.”
DAY 3 – SFW presented a fashion show at the Crowley Centre for Arts that featured 12 Canada’s fashion startups from Montreal, Toronto and Calgary; Ageselao, F.Capuano, BKANNE, HATCHI, Malika Rajani, Jillian Joy, EMY ARMOR, Colors of The Sky, Monkland Village and more.
