Welcome back to our Summer Fridays Series, where we explore the places, plans and outfits that make summer travel feel a little more special.
Today, we’re taking you to Halifax, a city where historic streets slope toward the harbour and almost every good plan seems to lead back to the water. Known for its maritime history, fresh seafood and lively waterfront, Halifax has that perfect East Coast mix of city energy and relaxed coastal charm.
The Look

For a summer day in Halifax, the Sammie Dress is an easy fit. Its flowy, comfortable silhouette is an simple addition to your wardrobe for a day of exploring. It has that relaxed, effortless feel that works so well for travel, while still looking polished enough for dinner or drinks later on. Pair it with simple sandals or sneakers during the day, then add a light cardigan or denim jacket once the evening breeze rolls in.
Breakfast at The Daily Grind

The Daily Grind at Bishop’s Landing is relaxed, local and right on the waterfront, giving you a simple place to settle in before the day properly begins. Grab a coffee and something for breakfast and enjoy a slow start with the harbour already in view.
Wander Through the Halifax Public Gardens

From the waterfront, make your way toward the Halifax Public Gardens for a quieter side of the city. The historic Victorian-style gardens are filled with winding paths, seasonal flowers, fountains, ponds and a picture-perfect bandstand. It’s the kind of place where you go in planning to take a quick walk and somehow end up staying much longer. Free guided tours are also offered throughout the warmer months for anyone who wants to learn a little more while they explore.
Lunch at The Bicycle Thief

For lunch, head back toward Bishop’s Landing and find a table at The Bicycle Thief. The popular waterfront restaurant serves North American dishes with an Italian influence in a space that feels lively, stylish and still relaxed enough for an afternoon meal. It’s a great place to share a few plates, order pasta or seafood and let lunch last slightly longer than planned.
See the City on the Harbour Hopper

The bright green Harbour Hopper may look a little touristy, but that is part of the fun. The tour begins on the streets of Halifax, travelling past some of the city’s best-known sights before heading straight into the harbour. Once you’re on the water, you get an entirely different view of the skyline. It’s fun, slightly unexpected and one of the easiest ways to see a lot of Halifax without spending the entire afternoon checking a map.
Walk the Halifax Waterfront

End the day where Halifax feels most alive: along the waterfront. The Halifax Harbourwalk stretches for 4.4 kilometres, connecting restaurants, shops, museums, public art and plenty of spots where you can simply sit and watch the boats go by. Stop for something sweet, browse the local shops or claim one of the waterfront hammocks and stay until the afternoon light begins to soften. In Halifax, the best summer plan is sometimes just following the boardwalk and seeing where it takes you.
