Toronto’s multi-arts fashion week, Fashion Art Toronto came to an end last Sunday and we were amazed by all the great shows 30 of the most talented Canadian designers had put together. If you didn’t get a chance to watch the shows live, don’t worry! Here is a recap of all the events at FAT and we included some of our favorite shows so you can get a taste of it as well!
Last Saturday, November 5th, we had the opportunity to attend the fantastic Fashion Art Toronto Opening HausParty at The Selby. It was an amazing event, full of models, designers, and media, hanging, dancing and networking.
The FranDiscos DJs featured the party; they were killing it with the great music and atmosphere they were creating.
We enjoyed complimentary drinks, treats, gifts and networking with all the talented people participating at FAT, getting ready for the big show day.
Live Runway Experience
We also had the opportunity to attend to some of the wonderful Runway shows on Friday and Sunday. Keep reading to find more detail about Fashion Art Toronto: The Recap.
For Friday experience we had the opportunity to see four spectacular brands, all of them mixing fashion and art.
SHAGHAYEGH TAFRESHI
The first one was SHAGHAYEGH TAFRESHI. In her recent collection, the designer says she was “inspired by the fate of the birds in the Aviary and the name of the collection is AVIARY.” Each piece represents one specific bird that is looking for freedom and wants to get out of this Aviary.“
MAISON EFTYA
Second one, we had the honor to presence was, MAISON EFTYA, a genderless lifestyle brand, full of creativity, colours, original designs and prints.
NOVE CHIU
The fantastic third brand we could watch was NOVA CHIU, presenting their new collection, “Endless Infinity”, inspired by their six-year-old daughter Alice, she created all kinds of colour drawings and those were the prints of the collection pieces.
MONIER
We were impressed by the impactful show full of spectacular designs and exciting music that MONIER gave with their new “COLORBLIND” Fall/Winter 2022 Collection. Undoubtedly, one of the most exciting shows of the night, with lots of incredible and unique designs.
AMELIA TUU
AMELIA TUU, presented her new collection, which is sustainably made and ethically sourced in Canada. The collection was made up of simple yet timeless pieces.
PIPPA LATEX
This show had us mind blown. The textures and cuts of the PIPPA LATEX garments were amazing and the bold colours reminded us of pop-art / comic book inspirations.
DEMAINE TYRONE
Demaine Tyrone was one of the designer that left us wanting more! The collection featured bold, luxury clothing for all, including tailored print suits, bold cuts and street wear items as well.
RAISING THE ROOF
Raising the Roof launched their first ever Streetswear by RTR collection; a fashion line designed to help kids experiencing homelessness. Because this is the reality: 20% of Canadians experiencing homelessness are youth and there are 40,000 youth homeless across Canada.
Bulova for Hendrix Roe and Lesley Hampton
Bulova was a sponsor for Fashion Art Toronto and was featured in two of the most awaited shows: Hendrix Roe and Lesley Hampton. We were able to speak with Zahra Hemraj, Director of Marketing for Citizen Watch Canada (the parent company for Bulova, which also encompasses Citizen, Frederique Constant, Accutron, and Alpina), about their partnership with Fashion Art Toronto this year. She explained to us that Bulova is “…proud to be sponsors of Fashion Art Toronto, and we couldn’t be more thrilled to see our watches alongside the designs of Lesley Hampton and Hendrix Roe. Bulova is a brand that was born from an immigrant’s vision, and truly is a story of risk-taking and of innovation, which we feel resonates with the passion and drive of these incredible Canadian designers.”
