At times, everyday life can leave us feeling drained and in need of a break away. For many people, the ideal holiday is by the sea, with a selection of coastal towns appealing to many travelers in need of a relaxing getaway.

Offering delightful sea breezes and gorgeous scenery, alongside the crystal clear waters that are on show in movies like Forgetting Sarah Marshall, documentaries like Coast, and casino games like Crystal Clear, a slot product by Realistic Games that also contains palm trees and offers a relaxing beach-inspired vibe, coastal towns are perfect destinations for many. They generally aren’t as busy as massive resorts and cities, they tend to offer a certain charm, and they’re the perfect place to switch off and unwind. Europe’s Best Selection of Coastal Towns

While England isn’t exactly known for its warm weather, it can actually get very hot in the summer months, particularly if you’re visiting a major city like London with its humidity. In order to escape the horrible heat for a few days, people venture to some of England’s stunning coastal towns, with Cornwall being a go-to destination for many. Polperro is a particularly popular town, with this idyllic location providing the ultimate relaxing escape. A smuggling hotspot in the 18th century, it’s filled with history and some truly magnificent traditional architecture, while the people are always friendly. St Ives is another English coastal town with a glowing reputation, too.

If Britain’s unpredictable weather isn’t appealing, then the Italian coastal town of Manarola is a fantastic alternative. Dating back to the Middle Ages, this colorful location is capable of providing you with the perfect escape, while the bright architecture and lovely cuisine is another reason why people flock there. Positano is another fantastic Italian seaside town, with this cliffside village on southern Italy’s Amalfi Coast pulling in travelers for decades. If you’re keen to venture somewhere else after Italy, then Oia in Greece is worth considering, too. A delightful place on the northern coast of the hugely popular Santorini, it’s an authentic Greek town with blue skies, blue waters, blue and white architecture, and a lovely all-round vibe. Croatia’s Rovinj offers something similar, although given its rich historical past, it represents a more fascinating location.

Other top European coastal towns include Reine (Norway), Cadaqués (Spain), and Ferragudo (Portugal).

If a vacation to Europe isn’t tickling your fancy, then there are some truly excellent coastal towns in other parts of the world. For example, Bermuda’s reputation continues to grow, with people particularly enjoying Saint Georges. A town steeped in history that dates back to the 17th century, it’s unique blend of natural beauty and its fascinating past makes for a memorable break away. Canada’s very own Lunenburg is worth frequenting, too. A UNESCO World Heritage site, the old black and white feel has been replaced by a wave of color as this seaside town that was founded by the British continues to stand out.

Offering something completely different, Cua Van is a popular destination in Vietnam. While it doesn’t offer the same type of luxury as some of the other destinations we’ve mentioned, it boasts a completely different natural environment, with mountains and floating anchored houseboats all contributing to this truly wild escape. Not too far away from Vietnam is Port Fairy in Australia, a delightful seaside village with wonderful whitewashed cottages, a friendly vibe, beautiful waters, and a good selection of restaurants to sample.

Other alternatives include Sausalito (USA), Paternoster (South Africa), Kaikōura (New Zealand), and Sidi Bou Said (Tunisia).
