#CheckedIn: Le Germain Hotel Ottawa

Sometimes, a change of perspective is all it takes to rediscover a city. For our latest #CheckedIn, we stayed at Le Germain Hotel Ottawa, where a top-floor room with beautiful views of the capital set the scene. With dining at Norca, breakfast on the go at Jackson Café and direct access to the Ottawa Art Gallery, there was plenty to enjoy close to our room.

The Hotel

Located on Daly Avenue, Le Germain Hotel Ottawa brings contemporary boutique style to the heart of the capital. Its refined design makes it an appealing base for a city getaway, with shopping, restaurants and cultural attractions within easy reach.

The practical details are thoughtfully covered, too. Complimentary Wi-Fi, a fitness centre open around the clock and valet parking give guests the flexibility to balance sightseeing with work or keep up their usual routine while away.

The Room & The View

Our room was on the hotel’s top floor, with beautiful views across Ottawa. That elevated outlook was a highlight of the stay, offering a different perspective on a city we know well. Having the capital spread out beyond our window gave the room a strong sense of place.

Le Germain’s emphasis on comfort carries through to its rooms, with goose-down duvets and feather pillows among the finishing touches. Paired with the views, it makes an inviting setting for a little downtime between plans.

Breakfast & Dinner at Norca

We experienced Norca at both ends of the day, enjoying breakfast and returning for dinner during our stay. Located on the hotel’s second floor, the restaurant makes sitting down for a meal an easy part of the itinerary.

Breakfast offers a chance to take your time before heading out into the city. The menu includes options such as farm-fresh eggs and house-made granola, alongside vegetarian choices.

At dinner, Norca’s focus on Canadian ingredients comes to the forefront. The kitchen draws on local producers and uses fermentation and preservation to develop flavour, with house-made preparations forming an important part of its approach. It gives the restaurant a distinct culinary identity and adds a sense of discovery to dining at the hotel.

A Quick Stop at Jackson Café

For a quicker start, we also picked up breakfast on the go at Jackson Café. Located inside the Ottawa Art Gallery, the café offers specialty coffee and pastries in a setting that connects food with the surrounding art.

It’s a convenient option when you want to get out and explore, while the café itself offers a reason to linger if your schedule allows.

Art Within Easy Reach

One of Le Germain Ottawa’s defining features is its direct connection to the Ottawa Art Gallery. Guests can access the gallery from the hotel, making it easy to fit an exhibition visit into a stay.

With free admission and collections and exhibitions that celebrate the art and artists of the Ottawa–Gatineau region, the gallery adds a local cultural dimension to the experience. A visit can be as spontaneous as stopping in before breakfast at Jackson or setting aside an afternoon to explore.

The Neighbourhood

The location also makes discovering downtown Ottawa straightforward. The Rideau Centre is just a short walk away for shopping, while Parliament Hill is within walking distance for a closer look at the capital’s most recognizable landmark.

The nearby ByWard Market offers another side of the city, with shops, cafés, restaurants and market vendors to explore. Being close to all three makes it easy to build a day around your interests and return to the hotel between outings.

For a visit to the capital or a staycation close to home, Le Germain Hotel Ottawa brings together city views, dining and culture in one convenient address. Our top-floor stay offered a fresh perspective on Ottawa, with plenty waiting just beyond the door.
