Hilary MacMillan on Size Inclusivity and The Fashion Industry

“Have fun with fashion, I don’t think you always have to look like a perfect hourglass or the version of that to love fashion and be wearing what you’re wearing,” Hilary MacMillan told Elise Gasbarrino on this week’s episode of Let’s Talk About. Hilary MacMillan is a Canadian fashion designer and the creator of her own namesake clothing line. Hilary focuses her brand on its affordability, inclusivity and cruelty-free ethics. She created her own line with the intention to create a more inclusive brand in the fashion industry after realizing that many other brands are missing a large market by not embracing individual women, equally. Hilary tells us that she recognizes that there are “fashion rules” in place for various body shapes however, she wishes to spread the message that women should ultimately wear what makes them feel good and adheres to their personal style rather than how society tells them they should dress based on their physical appearances.

Fashion is all about individual style and showcasing one’s creativity and self-love, it should not be about dressing yourselves to suit the needs or opinions of others around you.  Hilary’s signature and most popular items include: trench coats, bomber jackets, and high waisted jeans.
