These days, scrolling through social media and indulging in more Netflix-n-chill than we’ve ever needed is our way of staving off self-isolation boredom. We’re coping with an unfamiliar situation in a familiar way; on the surface, our quarantine routine looks no different than a typical Sunday afternoon. Below surface level, things are bleak.
Though this ‘new normal’ comes from a place of familiarity, working from home is uncharted territory for many. It can be difficult to find structure in seemingly boundless freedom. Like, really – what day is it? What time is it? And what even is time anymore? After working remotely for the past two years, I’ve tried countless tactics and tested many routines, but finally found the real secret to thriving at home and staying productive despite having every distraction available.
The Key To Successfully Working From HomeÂ
The secret to working from home and much of my productivity is maintaining a fashionable WFH wardrobe. The ritual of getting dressed every morning brings me sanity and helps me mentally and physically prep for the workday. Changing out of pyjamas and into a comfortable yet stylish outfit that makes me feel motivated and confident spurs a mental shift toward professionalism. It provides much-needed structure during very uncertain times.
If you want to feel inspired, cozy, and focused throughout your workday at home, try piecing together any one of the following looks (or all of them!) while in self-isolation. Quarantine, but make it fashion.
Look #1: Athleisure Meets Business
A work from home wardrobe is nothing without a pair of well-made leggings and a crisp collared blouse. This look is great for video conferencing and easy to transition for a workout (minus the jewellery) by simply swapping the blouse for a tee.
Lululemon leggings, $98.00
H&M White Collared Blouse, $29.99
Everybäe Jewelry Monthly Subscription, $29.99
Look #2: Glam-jamas
While I do recommend changing out of the pyjamas you slept in, there’s no denying that they can be a look all on their own. They don’t even require accessorizing or thought. Ta-da!
Sleeper Party Pyjama Set with Feathers, $320.00
Look #3: All-Black Everything
When in doubt, default to your favourite black turtleneck and paper bag pants. It’s a put together and elegant pairing, and with a bun or up-do, this look is eternally unstoppable.
Zara Ribbed Turtleneck Sweater, $35.90
Aritzia New Paperbag Pant, $148.00
Look #4: Oversized Cardi
The oversized cardigan is possibly the greatest and most versatile item in any WFH wardrobe – it’s basically a stylish blanket. Need I say more?
 Aritzia TY Cardigan, $138.00
Anthropologie Babette Speckled Cardigan, $118.00
Look #5: Breathable Dress + Blazer Combo
As spring finally graces us with its sunny presence, slipping on a structured yet breathable dress is an easy way to feel as though you’re rocking a complete look, with just one item. Pair it with a blazer for an air of added confidence.
Zara Floral Print Dress, $79.90
Zara Chic Flowy Jacket Blazer, 79.90
Look #6: The Modern Classic
A chic wide-leg pant paired with a cute tee is a look that always delivers. Its also deceivingly comfortable, setting the stage for high levels of productivity throughout your day. Who knew jeans could look so good?
BooHoo Super Wide Leg High Waist Jersey Pants, $16.00
Zara Basic Cotton T-Shirt, $9.90
Look #7: Stylish Sweats
For the days that you really need to complete your to-do list, stylish sweats are the answer to all your WFH wardrobe troubles. They can also double as workout gear – practicality at its finest.

Aritzia Vanguard Hoodie, $88.00
