It seems as if award-winning designer Marina Billinghurst has decided to introduce a new series of brightly watercolored robes at the most perfect time; when the country is blanketed in snow during the winter months, WILD FLORA, her collection of wearable art for SS21, promotes new beginnings.
Inspired by the feeling of being wild and free in one’s natural habitat, WILD FLORA boasts vibrant prints of Canadian provincial flowers, healing cannabis leaves, mystical butterflies and abstract watercolours that represent the spirit of the season.
Made from smooth mulberry silk and butter-soft modal fabric, Billinghurst’s kimonos can be mixed in with your loungewear and resort wear for a truly luxe look and feel.
“From pollinating bees and fluttering butterflies to lavender fields in full bloom, I drew inspiration for this collection from the power that comes from feeling completely free in our environments,” said Billinghurst, pictured above. “The movement and flow of the luxurious fabrics and prints are designed to make all women feel beautiful in their natural state.”
WILD FLORA prints will be released through summer 2021, with the Peonies kimono in Jade (pictured below) and Plum now available online at artofmarina.shop.
What we’re looking forward to: The release of the Lemonade kimono in pink. Launching this spring, the Lemonade kimono is available in two lengths: KIKI (full-length duster) and KANDI (traditional mid-thigh length).
While we await our escape to a citrus-filled grove in Tuscany, we’ll be wrapping ourselves in this print with a cold glass of Verdicchio in hand, wishing we were there.
