Harvest season is upon us, and we couldn’t be more excited to host dinners we’ve been dreaming of since we renovated our kitchen. Our vision; glowing candles, deep festive hues and family-style dinners where local vegetables are woven into the traditional dishes our family has created season after season.
Today, we share our take on making memories at a table worth gathering around.
First stop: The Farm
It’s here where the fun begins! The kids can’t wait to pick out apples for our apple crumble, pumpkins to add to our tablescape and all the root vegetables that perfectly pair with the turkey. While wandering, we linger longer in the crisp air and enjoy the memories we’re creating before we sit down at the table. After we’ve made pit stops to the grocery store, the winery, and cafe for focaccia (and hot apple cider), we’re ready to start prepping.
Dinner Prep

Dinner prep is no joke, especially when you’ve eagerly awaited the moment to extend your Orsa Dining Set from Cozey as the whole family has RSVP’d yes to this harvest dinner. We tend to keep things simple and prepare as much as we can the day before (veggies chopped, butternut squash soup made, and potatoes ready to mash). The morning of the big event, we gravitate towards preparing all the finer details; lemon in the table water, finely chop the herbs for the turkey (and pop it in the oven), and prepare the antipasto platter.
Setting the Tablescape

And then comes setting the table. We’ve always dreamed of having one of those magazine worthy tablescapes where you feel like you’re dining in a fairytale. Our dreams came true the moment The Orsa Extended Dining Set arrived at our doorstep. Its beautifully crafted, solid wood structure is the perfect backdrop for any meal. Wanting to play with different mediums and textures, we designed the tablescape to show off the lovely oak finish and clean lines naturally etched into the table. From cream candles and munchkin pumpkins to fall flowers and our ‘fancy china’, all the festive touches stood out against the smooth oak finish and we simply couldn’t get enough of the pretty vibe we threw down.
Making Memories

The best part of any dinner party, the beautiful memories made while dining with our favourite people. We loved seeing the kids run around the table with not a care in the world, hands making marks on the scratch (and heat!) resistant wood. Thank goodness for scratch resistant wood. After a weekend of prepping and preparing for the dinner, sitting down in an Ushi Dining chair, we loved hearing all the compliments about the food and decor. Relaxing into the flow of conversation takes us back to our childhood, where we remember the large family gatherings our parents and grandparents hosted. It’s a reminder to us that our kids will grow up the same way, creating memories around a table truly worth gathering around.
