Fashion creative and stylist Lauren Walker-Lee has always loved designers and artists. Continuously captivated by the people behind the brands and getting a sneak peak into their process and creative spaces. For most fashion fans a look behind the scenes started with Fashion Television, the famed Canadian program that documented the world of high fashion, runway shows, and the creative minds that brought it all to life.
With time spent in New York and London working in fashion PR and having her own online boutique Lauren found the same interest held true- a love for the stories and creatives in fashion and its sister industries. As a proud Canadian known for supporting independent local brands (plus shouting about the women behind them) Lauren’s work as a stylist and writer allowed her to get to know them more personally and continually collaborate. This would lead to the creation of her video interview series Talking & Shopping, a docu-style show that takes designers, artists, and female founders talking and shopping to hear about their career journey’s while visiting the best independent boutiques in the city. Talented Canadians who have received the Talking & Shopping treatment are BIKO’s Corrine Anestopoulos, designers Hilary MacMillan and Dorian Who, Lisa Gozlan, actress Ann Pornel, and sister Hannah and Joanna from handbag line ai. Other Canadian profiles south of the border include artist Maya Fuhr in Los Angeles, and Celene Gee of Gee Beauty in Miami.
The series is a behind scenes look into creative conversations, getting to know and highlighting inspiring talented women while also shining a light on the fabulous independent boutiques that make up the tapestry of our cities. Lauren’s love of discovering new people, places and products knows no bounds and is shared in Talking & Shopping – fusing conversation, creativity, and style.
